Fall 2019

Hero Handbags

“You’ll see bags that riff on luggage and vintage steamers—women in cities around the world carry their whole lives in their handbags. Other styles are all about movement—from flying ostrich feathers on evening bags to exaggerated leather fringe on our little canteens. Then, there’s the new Monogramme collection, updated with ‘MKC’ logo hardware inspired by my old sketches from high school.”

Part of the new Monogramme collection, this versatile travel tote recalls vintage luggage with a luxe front cargo pocket. The MKC logo brings to life the initials Michael has been sketching since his teenage years—a time marked by dreams and anything-is-possible optimism.

Call it avant-garden—the duffel gets reimagined for fall in a rich floral tapestry that winks at travel bags of yesteryear.

The Bancroft satchel gets patchworked for the season in color-blocked snakeskin and faux croc leather—a nod to ’70s boho-chic.

In collaboration with Studio 54—the iconic former nightclub and current Broadway theater—Michael created a series of new leather handbags featuring the disco’s signature logo. “I didn’t go to my prom—I went to Studio 54 instead, and it changed my life. Studio 54 represents to me the melting pot of New York: the high and low, the glamorous but gritty,” Michael said.

Bring on the drama. The canteen bag (part of the Monogramme collection) features our signature MKC hardware and extra-long leather fringe— making it a perfect partner on the dance floor.
